Our Goals
LMCC aims to model and advocate for a literary magazine culture that:
- Is diverse, equitable, and inclusive;
- Supports the personal and professional well-being of staff, volunteers, and contributors;
- Highlights the vital artistic role of litmags and their collective impact on the wider cultural landscape;
- Works at the forefront of environmental sustainability;
- Supports literary publishing by encouraging new and established writers, voices, forms, and ideas.
Who We Are
LMCC welcomes all literary magazines publishing in Canada and across colonial borders.
We define a literary magazine as:
- A print and/or online periodical that publishes at least fifty percent literary content: prose, poetry, and/or graphic literary work;
- A publication that accepts unsolicited submissions and maintains publicly available submission guidelines.

What We Do
Collaborate: Monthly online meetings are open to all members and provide an informal space to discuss shared challenges and collaborate on solutions.
Connect: Our Slack channels offer opportunities to ask questions, share news, and get to know one another.
Promote: Our website maintains a directory of literary magazines in Canada. Contact us to add your magazine.
Advocate: In 2024, we conducted a baseline survey to assess the health and sustainability of the literary magazine sector in Canada. Results are available here. We continue to advocate for and promote litmags. New projects coming in 2026.
